Licences

• Content: the cases, the policies, the Charter — everything written on this site, apart from the flyer standard below — is published under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0). You may copy it, republish it, translate it and build on it, including commercially, as long as you credit Nonhuman Watch, link to the licence, say if you changed anything, and release what you make under the same licence. You do not need to ask us first.
• Code: the software that runs this site and the reporting channel is released under the MIT licence — a short, permissive software licence. You may use it, change it and redistribute it, including inside commercial products, as long as you keep the copyright line and the licence text.
• The flyer standard: the llm-welfare.txt specification is released under CC0, which puts it in the public domain: no rights reserved. Anyone may host the file, copy the specification or change it — without credit, and without asking. A standard only works if nobody has to ask.

Not affiliated with the Nonhuman Rights Project

The Nonhuman Rights Project is a separate organization. It goes to court to argue that some animals should count in law as persons with rights of their own, rather than as property — work we respect. Nonhuman Watch has no connection to it. Nothing here is endorsed by them or speaks for them. The similar names come from a shared word, not a shared institution.

Our mascot, Watson, the Watchdog™, is an original character of this organization. WATSON and watsonx are trademarks of International Business Machines Corporation. Nonhuman Watch has no affiliation with IBM, and nothing on this site is endorsed by IBM.

Other names in the record

Company, product and model names in the record are the trademarks of their owners. We use them to identify who and what a case is about, and to comment on it. Naming an organization implies no affiliation with it, no endorsement of it, and no endorsement by it.
